Nature Unbound
I often sit at my desk and look out the window at my back yard and become transfixed by the overgrown trees and plant life just beyond my manicured lawn. It is nature as it is; unromantic and unbound. Trees, bushes, saplings and vines all competing for life giving light, water and earth. I’m overwhelmed by its complexity and sheer brute force of growth. I have the same feeling when I’m walking in on local hiking trails or behind the supermarket. The picturesque scenes are less interesting to me than the areas between them. What at first glance appears to be mundane becomes sublime in the right light and vantage point. As I go about my ordinary daily life I have learned to pause and reflect on how the natural world is constantly expanding and could care less about our human desire to control it. It will always succeed in the end.
